Dear all fans of Jaga Jazzist. It is incredibly sad that tonight's concert with Jaga Jazzist cannot take place. Both the band and the festival staff have been working hard to find a solution to the transport problems caused by the storms. Unfortunately, we have not been able to do so. We are working on finding a new date for the concert.

The experimental Norwegian music collective Jaga Jazzist, known for its cross-genre compositions and energetic live performances, celebrates its 30th anniversary when it comes to the Bodø Jazz Open.



In collaboration with Ad Lib Jazzklubb, a powerhouse of Norwegian music will be presented. From humble beginnings in Tønsberg in 1994, Jaga Jazzist has grown over four decades to become an icon in the Nordic music landscape. With their roots firmly planted in jazz and the ensemble format, and with 5 of the 8 members having been with the band from the beginning, Jaga Jazzist have a constant drive to explore what it can mean to be a large group of exceptionally talented musicians whose aim is for no two releases to be the same.

In August 2020, they released their ninth album "Pyramid" on Flying Lotus' label Brainfeeder, which received a standing ovation in the Norwegian and international media. "Pyramid", their first self-produced album, was recorded in just two weeks in a cabin in corona-free Sweden in 2019, and the result is a meditatively harrowing sci-fi electronic-acoustic-post-prog-jazz-rock album that has been compared to Khruangbin, Giorgio Moroder, Thundercat, Neu! and Fela Kuti. You yourself state that the album honours a variety of greats, from Out To Lunch from the 80s and synth pioneer Ståle Storløkken to current artists such as Tame Impala, Todd Terje and Jon Hopkins. Is it jazz? Is it rock? Maybe post-rock? Who really knows. In any case, there will be a variety of acoustic and electronic instruments on stage, and people who really know how to play them!

Jaga Jazzist is one of the most stylistically distinctive bands on the Norwegian music scene and is known for their uncompromising focus on quality, both in their albums and their live shows.

Det finnes noen veldig hyggelige mennesker: Sebastian Hayduk, lysteknikeren fra Audiobeast, tilbød seg å kjøre meg til flyplassen i Hamburg under konserten med Joakim Berghäll og Adele Sauros på JFK i Syke dagen før avreise, noe som for det første ga meg mulighet til å sove ut og for det andre sparte meg for stresset med jernbanestreiken i Tyskland. I stedet får jeg en hyggelig reise og en livlig samtale og ankommer flyplassen to timer før boarding. Herlig! Nå er Arlanda den første destinasjonen på flyplanen, med Østersjøen under oss, som man ikke kan se noe av på grunn av det våkne sløret. For å komme i riktig stemning hører jeg på Inger Hannisdals North South East West , en fascinerende blanding av folkemusikk, dansemusikk og skandinavisk avantgarde med min favoritttrekkspiller Frode Haltli. Da er det godt at det finnes lukkede hodetelefoner med stillhetsfunksjon.  Når nedstigningen mot Arlanda begynner, blir det litt vinglete, og Florian Arbenz' Conversation #10 med Nils Wogram ...

Bodø Jazz Open - Ein Reisetagebuch

Sonntag, den 28.1.2024 Es gibt richtig nette Menschen: Sebastian Hayduk, der Lichttechniker von Audiobeast bot mir während des Konzertes mit Joakim Berghäll und Adele Sauros bei JFK in Syke am Tag vor meiner Abreise an, mich nach Hamburg zum Flughafen zu bringen, wodurch ich erstens ausschlafen konnte und mir zweitens der Stress durch den Eisenbahnstreik erspart blieb. Statt dessen habe ich eine angenehme Fahrt und eine angeregte Unterhaltung und komme bereits zwei Stunden vor dem Boarding am Flughafen an. Toll! Nun steht Arlanda als erstes Ziel auf dem Flugplan, unter uns die Ostsee, von der allerdings wegen des Wolkenschleiers nichts zu sehen ist.um mich in die richtige Stimmung zu versetzen höre ich  Inger Hannisdals North South East West,  eine faszinierende Mischung zwischen Folklore, Tanzmusik und skandinavischer Avantgarde mit meinem Lieblingsakkordeonisten Frode Haltli. Bodø Jazz Open: A travel diary

There are some really nice people: Sebastian Hayduk, the lighting technician from Audiobeast , offered to take me to the airport in Hamburg during the concert with Joakim Berghäll and Adele Sauros at JFK in Syke the day before my departure, which firstly allowed me to sleep in and secondly spared me the stress of the railway strike. Instead, I have a pleasant journey and a lively conversation and arrive at the airport two hours before boarding. Great! Now Arlanda is the first destination on the flight plan, with the Baltic Sea below us, of which nothing can be seen because of the woken veil. To get me in the right mood, I listen to Inger Hannisdal's North South East West , a fascinating mixture of folk, dance music and Scandinavian avant-garde with my favourite accordionist Frode Haltli. It's a good thing that there are closed headphones with a silence function.  As the descent towards Arlanda begins, things get a little wobbly and F lorian Arbenz' Conversation #10 with Nil...
